Description: Description Hiroshi Wakasugi Victor Recordings 3 SACD Hybrid TOWER RECORDSProduct introduction Selected performances recorded by Hiroshi Wakasugi & the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra between 1966 and 1971, reprinted from the analog master! Beginning with the first recording by a Japanese orchestra (Haydn Symphony), Wakasugi's youth, who later flew to the world. A masterpiece revived here! Mastering in pursuit of the original sound From 1966 onwards, when Hiroshi Wakasugi began recording in earnest, from among the various sound sources recorded for the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra and Victor, 6 pieces mainly of Western classical music, excluding contemporary Japanese music. was selected and compiled into a 3-disc set this time. These sound sources were one of the first stages of full-fledged stereo recording of Western music by Japanese conductors, musicians, and record companies, and were an important record that later led to the development of Western music in Japan. At the same time, it is a valuable piece that allows you to confirm the high level of performance at that time. Until now, some of them have been released via distribution, but this is the first time that they have been made into discs, including CDs. In addition, this reprint includes commercially available sound sources at the time and some of the appreciation materials distributed to schools, and at the same time, this duo also recorded Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake" suite and Mozart's Jupiter. Unfortunately, these master tapes did not exist in Victor's storage warehouse. This time, I mainly selected sound sources except for the above two songs and recordings of contemporary music. Hiroshi Wakasugi made his conducting debut in 1959 while still a student at Tokyo University of the Arts, with his Nikikai production of The Marriage of Figaro. In 1963, he became a conducting researcher at the NHK Symphony Orchestra, and in 1965 he became the conductor of the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra. Wakasugi lived up to expectations and produced large-scale vocal works such as Schoenberg's "Gurre Song" (1967), Wagner's "Parsifal" (the same year, which won the Mainichi Art Award), and Penderecki's Luca Passion (1968, which won the Arts Festival Award). Successful successes in the Japanese premiere of the play swept the music stage. Wakasugi & Yomikyo recording by Victor was born in the era when they were a powerful driving force in the Japanese music world. In the Japanese record world at that time, the recording repertoire of Japanese musicians was usually limited to contemporary Japanese music. However, as stated in the liner notes by Koji Nishimura when Beethoven's "Pastoral" first appeared, ``If we absorb interpretations and techniques from tradition and fully demonstrate our delicate sensibilities and rich imaginations, `` I should be able to make "Pastoral Symphony" my own song." This earnest thought led to the realization of these recordings. This was the second recording of "Pastoral" by a Japanese conductor and a Japanese orchestra, following the NHK Symphony Orchestra (Columbia) conducted by Hiroyuki Iwaki, excluding bookstore distribution and private editions. For the same reason, the February 1970 recording of Berlioz's Fantasy was born. At this point, the "Illusion" by a Japanese conductor and a Japanese orchestra did not yet exist. Berlioz's works were one of his signature repertoires, including the Japan premiere of "Romeo and Juliet" in 1966 and "The Trojans" in 1974 with Yomikyo. On the other hand, Haydn's ``Army'', ``Clock'' 2nd movement, and Tchaikovsky ``The Nutcracker'' recorded in 1966 were recorded as appreciation materials for school education. Haydn's "Amazement" recorded in 1971 was recorded as a coupling when selling the viewing material "Army". Without falling into routine work, Wakasugi provided music enthusiasts with a fresh topic by using the revised score by musicologist H.C. Robbins Landon, which had just been published in 1965. Wakasugi's enterprising spirit and depth of education are typical of Wakasugi. It will lead to great success in Europe, such as the permanent conductor of the Dresden State Opera. "My own songs" that will fascinate the audience, the orchestra members, and the people involved in music are certainly alive in this collection of recordings. In this reprint, we used the original 2-channel analog master tape that Victor had kept under strict control, including temperature control, and the sound source played on the Studer A-80, which was also used at the time of recording, for the SACD layer. is converted to 44.1 kMz by a pure method that reduces process loss as much as possible based on the same DSD sound source for the CD layer. For commercialization, after comparing with the master tape in the studio, DSD 2.8MHz, DSD 5.6MHz, DSD 11.2MHz, PCM from 44.1kHz to 192, 384, etc. After listening at the possible rate, DSD 2. 8MHz direct is adopted. This is because the SACD format is 2.8MHz, so there is the least loss in the process (at other rates, the final conversion to 2.8MHz results in more processes), and the texture and tone of the instrument is the most analog / This is because it was close to the master tape. Of course, this time as well, the tape was in very good condition, so we kept the mastering to a minimum with an emphasis on musicality. As a result, we were able to reproduce a sound that was extremely close to the original analog master tape. In addition, the CD layer is adjusted using the DSD sound source (this time, the whole process uses the word "mastering" including the broad meaning). A wonderful sound source that collects the best of recording technology by Victor at the time, and in this reprint, it is finished in a way that you can fully feel the meaning of the collection, so please enjoy this wonderful recording using current technology to the fullest. increase.
