This is a barber shop in Herrin, Illinois, sometime in January of 1939. Union haircuts are advertised for 25 cents. We love the reflections off the glass on this image and if you look closely, you'll note that the gentleman's feet appear to be propped up on the car bumper! Herrin, of course, had been an early hotbed of union activity with a famous massacre of non-union miners having taken place during coal mine strikes in 1922.
