Description: Book description: Published by J.M. Dent & Co in 1909 but undated this is the first UK edition (I think) of 'Heidi' by Johanna Spyri, beautifully illustrated by Lizzzie Lawson. The illustrated boards are in very good condition for the age of the book. The top board is bowed a little. The back edge of the spine is worn and a litttle cracked. The gilt, titles etc. are in good condition. The end-papers are tanned. There is a pencil name and date on the back of the frontispiece which dates it to 1909. There are 12 full-page, charming colour illustrations with the frontispiece having a tissue guard, also many black and white illustrations throughout. The pages are in very good condition. The page edges are rough-cut and the top text block is gilded. This is a lovely edition of this popular book beautifully produced, a real survivor.
