Description: The Hebdomas watchmakers have been hand-making amazing watches in Switzerland since 1888. This nice example was probably made in the 1920's-30's. The only way to know exactly is to take the watch apart and find the serial number of the movement, then contact the company. This 6-jewel watch was recently serviced and is running well. It will run for SEVERAL DAYS on a soft wind. Hebdomas was the inventor of the "8-Day" watch in 1888. They use a gigantic mainspring that fills up the entire back of the watch! Hebdomas also hold many patents and have received many awards for the last 100 years or so for innovative watchmaking. The enameled porcelain dial is in gorgeous condition, only showing a small chip way in the corner from 8 o'clock position. I believe the hands are original, as well. The crystal is glass, in perfect condition and probably original. The 44 mm. case is nickel-chromium over steel, and is in very good condition overall. This is a "pin set" watch, which means that you push in the pin on the side of the case, then set the hands by turning the winder. Everything seems to be working well, but these watches should never be wound hard or too tight. More info. on HEBDOMAS website. Another very collectible watch from my personal collection....
