Titled on the back of the canvas "Pine Valley" (near San Diego, Calif). Beautiful hazy landscape of Pine Valley, softly painted technique, talented painter. Antique California painting, antique Calif. landscape. Early 20th Century early California art, dated 1906. Everts was known to have settled in Los Angeles around 1906. Very rare, may be the only known example out there since very few have been located, artist died in 1919. Oil on canvas, original antique frame. In need of some light restoration, a couple flecks/scrapes, a small tear, and chips to frame can be seen (see photos), as found untouched condition. Born in Michigan on Dec. 18, 1870. Everts was orphaned at an early age and made his way in the world from age 14. After moving from San Diego to Los Angeles in 1906, he studied at the local Art Students League. He did several paintings of Mission San Juan Capistrano, landscapes of the Santa Monica Canyon, and seascapes before his death in Los Angeles on Jan. 22, 1919. Exh: Kanst Gallery (LA), 1912. SIZE: APROX. 16x25.25 INCHES FRAMED, APROX. 11.75x20.25 UNFRAMED CONDITION: In good antique original condition, a couple small scrapes on the left side of the painting (see photos). Also a small half inch tear can be seen in the center, all is there and not very noticeable. Original antique frame has a few small chips/scrapes to the sides and edges of the gesso.
