Description: Offered here is an antique children's magazine, "Harper's Young People An Illustrated Weekly", Vol III, No 137, June 13, 1882, approx 11 1/4" X 8". I bought several bound volumes at an auction that are falling apart so I will list individual issues. This issue contains the earliest known view of the famous Polo Grounds in NYC. Many other stories, serial stories, poems etc of interest to children many illustrations. Harper's Young People. "A Game of Base-Ball at the Polo Grounds, New York City, on Decoration Day — Yale vs. Princeton." , v. III (1882), p. 524. Earliest known picture of Polo Grounds I [according to several sources - I have an earlier one from 1881 listed separately] I am calling it the earliest image of a baseball game at the Polo Grounds The original Polo Grounds was used not only for polo and professional baseball, but often for college baseball and football as well, sometimes by non – New York teams. In fact the earliest known surviving image of the field is an engraving of a baseball game between Yale and Princeton on Decoration Day (May 30), 1882. (Harper’s Young People, v. III (1882), p. 524.): Yale and Harvard also played their traditional Thanksgiving Day game there on November 29, 1883 and November 24, 1887. I ship next business day after payment is received. Please note Buyers from outside of the United States are responsible for any and all duties, tariffs or other fees that YOUR country may impose. Once a package is in the Postal Service hands, I loose control over it. Generally for US shipments you can expect delivery within 3 or 4 business days (or 3-9 for media rate). For non-US shipments, once the package leaves the US, even the USPS looses control over it. I can not predict transit times for these packages. They quite often are held up in customs in the receiving country. Please be patient.
