Hand-bound vellum currency exchange book, in Catalan, published circa 1792-1820

Description: This small hand-bound vellum book, written in Catalan, was probably published between 1792 and 1820 (text at the top of the 11th page includes "manufactured since January 1, 1792", and an inscription on the first free endpaper is dated May 14 1820). Faded writing on spine shows 8 letters that appear to spell Reduccio (Reduction). Unpaginated, with 173 pages of text between the title page and the last free endpaper. The title page, loosely translated with the help of Google Translate, reads as follows: Value and Reduction of Gold and Silver Coins to other types of currency, according to the increase of the Gold Coin by virtue of the Royal Pragmatic of July 17, 1779, declared by the Royal Audiencia of this Principality of Catalonia in August 9 of that year. In this new printing, the correspondence of the Currency of Catalonia to that of Castile, and that of Castile to that of Catalonia, has been added, with different Tables very useful for the sake of the public which will be found at the beginning of this Book. Gerona: By Narcis Oliva, Stamper and Librarian, in Plaza of the Cols. (Gerona is now Girona; Stamper may refer to small stampings that appear on several pages (see photos), or perhaps to woodblock printing; a translation of Cols is Cabbages.) Solid binding; interior is excellent, with no loose pages, no significant discoloration, no tears, chips, creases, or odor; a few page corners show water stains; the very old hand-written numbers at the top of most pages may have served to separate the book into sections or topics; boards and spine are a bit discolored and spotted but are undamaged except for a small (1/4 inch) hole where the front board meets the spine. This is an opportunity to own a truly old book in very good condition at a reasonable price.
