Description: In pastel earth tones, this antique majolica butter pat was produced in the 1880s by Griffin, Smith and Hill. The products from this firm became known as etruscan majolica and often portrayed natural and organic subjects in the pieces they created. One such popular line often in multiple color combinations was known as the geranium leaf pattern. Primarily produced in plates, bowls and these butter chips, serving sets would adorn the dining table creating a pleasant atmosphere at dinner. This chip measures just over 3” across at the widest and stands 3/8” tall when lying flat. As visible in several of the pictures, crazing covers both front and back sides some showing coloration. I will also mention a 3/8” line believe to be a very old stress crack or craze line heavily stained. I can find no other chips, cracks, damage or repairs. Clearly marked with the Etruscan logo in the center of the back. Please view all pictures as they are considered part of the description. Please check back to my listings in the future as I will be posting numerous fine examples of glass, pottery and porcelain in the near future. Thank you.
