Although normally somewhat gray, the Celebes specimens can be almost white. This lifeform is found widely in the Indo-Australian region. Batocera genus is found primarily from northern India east into Japan and from northern India south throughout Malaysia and Indonesia into New Guinea, the Solomons and Australia. The genus has minor representation in Africa. This genus contains some of the largest and most impressive beetles in the world. A large male of either Batocera kibleri or Batocera wallacei is a sight to behold. Other species are also magnificient. In l980 and 1982 Jacques Rigout published two books on the Batocerini tribe.
