" Official GDP Tour Shirt to have - from this Amazing ! Touring-Year the Grateful Dead. I myself always think of two main things when it comes to '82 Live Dead -- firstly, Garcia's tone & fret board attack ! As this was a totally transitional period - that really started in '81 where Jerry got both quicker & heavier ! I showed one of my Friends the 3/28/81 video not too long ago ( with The Who ! ) - and my Buddy's comment was a ' Classic ' on that day ... Wow man - Jerry's almost playing-Metal ?!? You-bet he was. Totally true in many ways - as during certain jam-points & ascensions - this was a " collective " beefed-up Grateful Dead ' Live ' - with some-serious Attack !! And Secondly ... this was the early-days of the true emergence of the '80's-esque Bobby Weir that many fans love & live for ! Much vocal improv - that some fans cherished, and other fans - well ... But the point is - this was the very Tour that " Throwing Stones " was played ! And in classic G.D. " we'll get around to it fashion " - Throwin' wasn't even featured on a G.D. Studio Album until the 1987 Masterpiece - ' In The Dark ' ! And frankly, we know what that one did for the band & scene - both good and bad things - but let's be honest ... way ! more ' good ' than bad. On this particular Hot-Night ! of '82 Fall Tour G.D. - the " Throwin' " was placed in the 2nd Set - and was played into Drums ! And to my ears - the Little Red Rooster - and Let It Grow were passion-played in this 1st Set - with L.I.G. just Burnin'-Away ! to close this Set. And Set 2 ?? A Touch of Grey opener played into a very-pretty Sailor > Saint ... with the Other One just slowly but surely Bursting ! out of The Wheel. A Classic ! - Bold ! & Bright ! G.D.
