Description: This is such a gorgeous very early 40s gown! Perfect for prom or any special occassion for any season. There are yards and yards of this beautiful floral moire taffeta fabric that was handmade at the hand of a true master. The classic 40s bodice silhouette has a sweetheart neckline with ruffle edging and gathering pleat shoulders and bustline. The puffed sleeves and ruffled trim are excellent details. The front buttons down with some fantastic faceted and cut glass buttons that may in fact be as early as the Victorian era. They are very small at about a 1/2" diameter. The drop princess waist has darting on front and back for a tailored fit. The skirt is a complete 360 degree circle skirt and is very long to the floor. The material is in overall very good condition with only a few small spots of iron shine that are hidden in the sweep of the skirt and gloss of the taffeta. Best for an XS-S: this must fit over the head and buttons in front only.
