If you are a little patience you simply remove the spring from the Verge Rod by pushing the spring outward carefully and then let the verge be free, if fully wound the verge should move by itself holding the clock at level. If not you must adjust the verge rod, then and only then let the spring hang and at a level hold, and the verge at mid range then insert the spring. You may need to re insert the spring a little higher or lower until the Verge is balanced.
