Description: Submitted for your final review is a 2004 Hasbro GI Joe 40th Anniversary 1964 - 2004 Authentic Reproduction of a 1964 Era GI Joe 12" Action Sailor Four US Navy Accessory Cards Includes Shore Patrol (SP) Helmet 16th in a Series When he was first introduced in 1964, GI Joe took the toy world by storm. With 21 movable parts and loads of detailed accessories, "America's Movable Fighting Man" quickly became a sensation and a new way to play for boys across the nation and around the world. To commemorate the 40th Anniversary of America's greatest toy soldier, GI Joe, Hasbro began releasing large box sets that included a boxed 12 inch action figure from one of the four Armed Services (Action Soldier, Action Marine, Action Pilot and Action Sailor) and related uniform and accessory sets. The 40th packaging was almost identical to the original items. Original plans called for 30 different sets to be released, however, the line was cancelled before completion and not all the sets were manufactured and / or released. You are bidding on the 40th Anniversary Action Sailor Shore Patrol Accessory Set, #16th in the series. This GI Joe play set allows kids (of all ages) to re-live the feeling that boys felt when they got their first GI Joe and were able to dress him with different equipment. I received my first Joe in 1965 when I was 11 years old, and I can tell you that there was no greater feeling of joy, than when I played with GI Joe and dressed him in different uniforms. I am not alone, as there are millions of boys who love GI Joe and his many incarnations to this day. There is no better gift for a pre-teen boy!!! This brown haired painted head 12" fully articulated action figure is dressed in USN denim fatigue uniform, and comes in a reproduction coffin box (marked 40th Anniversary) It includes the highly coveted white cloth sailors cap, metal dog tag, US Navy Field Manual and insignia sheet. Included are four accessory cards: 1.) Machine Gun and USN Ammo Box2.) White Shore Patrol Helmet Set3.) White M-1 Garand Rifle, Bayonet, Ammo Belt and Billy Club4.) USN Basic Card (Tall Black Boots, White Plastic Sailors Cap and Metal Dog Tags) The figure and cards have never been removed from original box, and have never been played with. Box has some shelf ware, commensurate with age, including some scuffing and slight warping. Also, the red plastic tape holding the clear plastic lid has separated from the box. I added a tiny piece of scotch tape to each side of the red banner in order to secure the banner during shipping. The box is in very nice shape and displays beautifully.
