Handsome and elegant George Peppard occasionally displayed considerable talent through his career but was too often cast in undemanding action roles. He is today probably best known for played cigar-chomping Colonel Hannibal Smith in highly succesful 1980s TV series "The A Team". Five times married a heavy smoker and drinker throughout his life he died of pneumonia aged 65 in 1994.
