About This Print:From Geoff Hunt's spectacular series of prints depicting dramatic naval actions associated with the War of Independence and the War of 1812. Monday, 19 July 1773; a routine day for British ships in colonial Boston. Captain Williams' 28 gun frigate Active, arrived the day before, is busy with drying sails and resupplying. In the distance lies the Glasgow, with 20 guns. The tall white spire to the left of Active's bowsprit belongs to Old North (Trinity) Church. Artist's Biography:From 1966 - 1970, Geoff Hunt studied graphic design at Kingston and Epsom Schools of Art. After two years in advertising, he became a freelance artist and designer. He was art editor of the Warship Journal from 1977 - 1979, and typographer/designer on many books on marine subjects. Now dedicated to painting full-time, he is a member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists. Geoff Hunt's work is found in the Royal Naval Museum, Royal Submarine Museum, Scrimshaw Gallery and private collections worldwide. Sailing has been an ongoing passion, which contributes to the accurate portrayals for which Mr. Hunt has become known. He is best recognized for painting the covers of the Patrick O'Brian novels, described by the NY Times as "The best historical novels ever written." Mr. Hunt, when not on the water or in the library reading old log books, can be found in England with his wife and two sons.
