The inside page does have a signature from the original owner (see Photo 5). Also the spine isn't tight and needs to be fully connected to the binding. The pages are altogether but the middle section of the book is loose from the spine (see Photos 2 & 13). The back of the cover has one spot (see Photo 3). Inside the book looks great with no discoloration, smudges, tears, etc. The book has 541 pages along with lists in the back of other stories from Gene Stratton-Porter among others. This book has been in our family for many years; thanks for taking a look! Gene Stratton-Porter (August 17, 1863 – December 6, 1924) was an American author, early naturalist, nature photographer, and one of the first women to form a movie studio and production company, Gene Stratton-Porter Productions, Inc. She wrote several best-selling novels and well-received columns in national magazines, such as McCall's. Her works were translated into several languages, including Braille, and Stratton-Porter was estimated to have had 50 million readers around the world. She used her position and income as a well-known author to support conservation of Limberlost Swamp and other wetlands in the state of Indiana.
