Description: Here's a nice little pre-war bakelite set from General Electric. Probably the most notable feature of the GE model H500U, is its bold approach to the dial featuring a large, lighted wheel. The case is in very good to VG+ overall. I did not observe any chips or cracks. There are a few surface level scratches that should buff right out with your favorite bakelite cleaner (I use Novus #2 more than anything). While it is in great physical shape, the volume button does not appear to be original, and may have been glued. Also, someone replaced the original back with a Beamascope loop antenna that protrudes about 3/4 of an inch from the back of the radio. I think the antenna upgrade is worth it, but it would be fairly easy to remove it and go with a traditional back and long wire antenna. Some tube radios take longer than others to warm up - and this is definitely one of those. It was a good 20 seconds or so before it started to tune in the station. It works well once warmed up, though there was a little bit of rattle from the speaker.
