First American edition. Very good minus book in good plus dust jacket. Black cloth covered boards with gilt lettering and graphics on spine, all clean but lightly scuffed. Upper edge of front board panel has indent near the front corner at head of spine. Edges at head and tail of board spine are softened but holding. External page edges are age-toned. Small stains on front and back end-papers including a small red dot in the upper right corner of the FFEP. Some penciled marginalia. Dust jacket is soiled, scuffed and rubbed overall, with soil more obvious on the spine and back jacket panel. Folds are heavily creased and spine and fore-edge folds have several rub-throughs. Loser edge of front panel has a 1 1/4" closed vertical with a number of adjacent diagonal creases. Loss at head and tail of jacket spine and fore-edge corners. Small clip on lower corner of front inside flap but price of $3.75 is intact.
