French leather-clad binoculars, with interlocking lenses. Antique.

Description: These binoculars were originally owned by a legendary French photojournalist, who brought them on his frequent travels to the African continent in the 1960s. The main body, as well as the eye pieces, are clad in rugged light and dark brown leather. The binoculars are engraved on the top side with the logo composed of a stylized letter "B" with wings on either side of it, as well as "Micra x 8" (indicating the binoculars have an 8x magnification, making objects appear eight times closer than they are). The underside is engraved "Made in France" and "1246." French-made binoculars have a well-deserved reputation for excellence. Binoculars were invented in France in the 1840s, and were put to use during that country's various military campaigns and wars, becoming an indispensable tool on the battlefield. Larger versions of these glasses became known as "field glasses." These binoculars feature interlocking lenses, allowing you to adjust the right and left sides at once. They're designed with flared eyepieces, which shade the eyes from peripheral light, ensuring an ultra-comfortable, glare-free viewing experience. In excellent vintage condition, with only a few minor scratches on the leather body and on the right eyepiece, as well as a minor dent or two in the metal frame.
