Description: Vintage/antique, early 1900's, stylish back plates for doors with mortise locks. Every inside door in my house has this style, and the house itself was built in 1924. All three backplates have been thoroughly cleaned, and identically recolored to a lovely aged-bronze tone. Each one is 2 3/8 inches by 7 inches. Not only is this style desirable and scarce, but one of the three has a smaller round hole instead of the typical skeleton-keyhole. THAT RARE BACKPLATE IS FOR USE WITH A THUMB TURN, which is a locking knob or lever mechanism turned by the thumb to open and close the mortise deadbolt. I have included three backplates, so that you can either use the two skeleton-key backplates together, or one skeleton-key backplate with the thumb-turn backplate if you have that kind of mortise lock. I've been dealing with backplates for decades, and this is the only thumb-turn backplate of this style that I have ever seen. Even if you don't use it on your door, it is a collectible piece from the early 20th century.
