Fossil Dinosaur Bone Specimen - DP27-Jurassic/Morrison Formation

Description: DP-27-Here’s an interesting leg bone specimen that looks good from every angle! As mentioned, I had some hail damage to my house and car, and so I’m parting with some of my favorite pieces from my collection to pay for repairs. This is a lovely, unique piece with a lightly polished face and all other sides natural. Sections of rind accentuate the colorful marrow. Shown Wet & Dry; Natural Bone, not treated. Weight: 980 Grams. 12 1/2 inches Circumference. Face/Front: Cut and lightly polished showing white-agate and crystal cells surrounded by a golden-tan webbing. Some bright red cells mixed in also, and light pinks. It’s an unusual color-combo with lots of small multi-shaped cells. 3 1/2 inches Tall X 3 1/2 inches Wide. Left Side: Note-the piece is round, so the sides curve into each other and these definitions are just to point out specifics of interest and not intended to tell you how to display the piece! This side is highly textured with some rind, skin and fossilized marrow/crystals. Red agate, tan, white and crystal with a hint of blue. 2 5/8 Tall X 3 1/4 inches wide. Right Side: Shows a bit of rind, but mostly is fine, agatized marrow with red, tan, white, amber, and even dry, there is a glittery garnet color showing. Mainly 2 1/2 inches Tall X 3 3/4 inches Wide. Top: Thick Rind showing tan, dark umber, cream and a touch of blue and smokey crystal. One section showing marrow. 2 to 2 1/4 inches Tall X Three to 3 1/4 Wide. Bottom: Is concave with a nice lip that balances the piece (if one choses to display the cut face with the rind section on top.) Shows lots of red agate, crystal and white cells.2 1/4 inches Tall X 3 to 3 1/4 Wide. Utah is the site of the earliest Morrison dinosaur discovery, Dystrophaeus viaemalae, a sauropod dinosaur discovered on the 1859 Macomb Expedition to southeastern Utah.Although Utah is most famous for its Morrison Formation dinosaur fauna, Utah has a prolific fossil record that spans the entire "Age of Dinosaurs." The dinosaurs thrived for over 150 million years. The fluvial (stream-deposited) sediments of the Morrison Formation dominated the Upper Jurassic landscape of eastern Utah. Originating approximately 150 million years ago as floodplain deposits, the Morrison Formation is exposed throughout the Colorado Plateau, including Colorado, Wyoming, eastern Utah, northern New Mexico, parts of Montana and South Dakota, and the panhandle of Oklahoma. The well-known Morrison dinosaur fauna includes Utah's official state fossil, the meat-eating theropod Allosaurus; other theropods, including Ceratosaurus, Stokesosaurus, and Marshosaurus; the sauropod dinosaurs Apatosaurus (commonly known as Brontosaurus), Camarasaurus, and Diplodocus; and the ornithischians Camptosaurus, Dryosaurus, and Stegosaurus.
