His apron looks like brown leather with a cast of blue. He was only in the 2001 catalog and then was gone until he came back as a special 100th anniversary piece (2008) with recasting and a change of color. The attention to detail is great! This figure fits in the "5in" Fontanini series. NEW in original box. The figure is a polymer material that is almost indestructible. Other town figures from the Fontanini Nativities can be added very nicely to the Life of Christ series. Fontanini was founded in 1908 and has produced many figures of saints, and figures from Christ's Life. The Nativity figures come in many sizes. In prior years, as small as 1in. up to almost life size. The most popular sizes sold today are: 2.5in. usually in ornaments or scenes, 5in. & 7.5in (most popular for home because of the sizes), 12in., 20in. 27in. and 50+in for large gathering places (Church, halls, etc.) They also have sets which include stables.
