Fischer and Mieg were famous for high quality porcelain and exquisite designs. The factory was located initially in what was known as Austria, then Bohemia and later Czechoslovakia. This mark with Austria under the crossed hammers was used from 1873 -1918 and stood for porcelain considered to be of only very high quality and expensive for the time period. [Pirkenhammer's translucent porcelain earned the company a bronze medal at the 1835 Vienna Fair and a gold medal in 1839.]
