Description: You are buying a piece of Deer Creek Fire Agate Rough. It measures 40 mm x 32 mm x 24 mm and weighs 26.6 grams. It was purchased from Bruce Alsup in 1978/1981. Bruce hand selected the rough he bought directly from the mine operator at the time. He used it to cut his finished Fire Agate Cabochons and make his Fire Agate Jewelry. Deer Creek Fire Agate Rough requires an experienced cutter or carver because the different color layers are formed in very thin curved bands. The photos were taken indoors with incandescent light and the rough was then sprayed with water to bring out the potential color bands at the edges of the piece. The blue paint was used to identify different grades of rough. Payment must be received within 4 days after the end of an auction.
