Description: Custom Shop Limited Edition Roasted '58 Special Stratocaster Experience vintage tone and modern playability with the Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition Roasted 1958 Stratocaster Special. This superior instrument features a roasted ash body and three-tone sunburst finish, delivering superior sustain and enhanced clarity. With fully-loaded Custom Shop pickups, it produces a range of sounds that any professional musician will appreciate. The main thing that stands out is the AAAA Flame Maple neck. The Custom Shop selected the most primo piece of flame maple to use on this guitar, and it's mind blowing. We've had a lot of flame maple necks here, but this one takes the cake. The neck was roasted, which ends up really accenting the flames. Be sure to check out all of the photos to see just how nice the neck is. It's not just about the look through - the neck is a super comfortable '54 Soft "V" shape that is easy and fast to play. We had the Custom Shop wear the finish off the back of the neck to give it that perfect "broken in" feel. So while the body has the Journeyman Relic treatment, the back of the neck is more like what you'd find on a Heavy Relic. Another added feature is the vintage compound radius of 7.25 - 9.5". This is something that the Custom Shop just started offering a few years ago, and has become quite popular. It allows for a very authentic feel with the 7.25" radius when playing chords, but then easy bending while playing leads as it evolves into a 9.5" radius further up the neck. The roasted alder body is super lightweight and will fit snugly against your body due to the '57 Strat style deep body contours. The lacquer finish and Chocolate 3-Tone Sunburst give it a classic, old-school Fender vibe. Handwound Fat 50's pickups (normally an upcharge) give you the classic 50's chime with a bit of extra bite to help cut through the mix. These are the most requested pickups on Custom Shop guitars, for good reason - they are the epitome of the classic Strat sound. This Strat also features a special wiring setup, called the "Postmodern Fat ‘50s Strat Hookup". This is achieved by connecting the tone pot to the output of the volume pot (middle lug) instead of the input. Many late fifties guitars of all brands were wired this way, but it can be done with any guitar. On a Strat, the switch has to also be wired a little differently to make it work. This will have two major effects on the tone: First, the overall tone gets stronger with more transparent bloom. Second, the typical treble loss that occurs when rolling back the volume is much less, and both the volume and tone controls react more smoothly and more evenly, without the typical hot spots. As a side effect, it’s easier to clean up an overdriven amp by simply rolling back the volume on the guitar a bit. Many of the Fender Master Builders prefer this hook up. Comes with Limited Edition neckplate, tweed case, strap and certificate of authenticity. As soon as we opened the case and pull this guitar out, "oohs" and "aahs" were heard, due to the AAAA flame maple neck. Then we plugged it and we equally as blown away by the sound. You can see and hear why for yourself by coming to Club Fender @ Truetone Music, or by ordering right here to be shipped to your home.
