Description: Store Item: Antique Federal Period Mahogany Tall Case Clock, made by John Hall, West Chester, Pennsylvania Description: Early 19th Century tall case clock featuring a white painted dial with Roman numeral sheet-iron dial with enamel painted floral spandrels, date aperture and date subsidiary dial. The dial is signed by John Hall, West Chester, Pennsylvania. The movement is a two train movement striking a bell on the hour. The works are housed in a figural Mahogany bench made case, the hood features a broken pediment with brass rosettes with center brass finial and glass door, the main case has domed shaped door that opens to the pendulum, case rests on French feet. Comes with pendulum, two weights and crank winder. John Hall was born in 1793 and died in 1867. He worked in West Chester, Pennsylvania from 1810 through 1815, his shop was located on Gay Street. He apprenticed under his uncle, George Cochran and made clocks and watches in his shop. Condition Report: Clock has not been tested, we do not guarantee the working condition of clocks and highly recommend having a professional service the clock and set up the clock before usage. Case has scuffs, chips scratches, wear and signs of refinishing as expected with age and usage, dial has some wear and paint flecking but shows beautifully.
