Description: A Handsome First U.S. Edition of Clare Leighton's masterpiece of wood engraving The Farmer's Year, published by Longmans, Green and Co. in 1933. In sharp, glossy black boards with bright gilt titles and vignette to front cover. The rear board shows a touch of light spotting. Corners and spine ends show no more than a trace of wear. Beautifully illustrated endpapers and intact hinges. The contents is in Very Good, clean condition save for a couple of spots to the bottom margin of the first engraving. The series of full page illustrations are striking examples of the wood engraver's art. Leighton provides narrative text to accompany each engraving. The original black cardboard slipcase with gold title label is in poor condition as shown but has done its job to protect the book over the past 90+ years. Book measures 15 x 12 inches. 54 pp.
