Description: EXPO 67 - Trinidad & Tobago, Grenada Pavilion - Montreal, Quebec - CANADA: The 1967 International and Universal Exposition or Expo 67, as it was commonly known, was the general exhibition, Category One World's Fair held in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, from April 27 to October 29, 1967. It is considered to be the most successful World's Fair of the 20th century, with the most attendees to that date and 62 nations participating. It also set the single-day attendance record for a world's fair, with 569,500 visitors on its third day. Expo 67 was Canada's main celebration during its centennial year. The fair was originally intended to be held in Moscow, to help the Soviet Union celebrate the Russian Revolution's 50th anniversary; however, for various reasons, the Soviets decided to cancel, and Canada was awarded it in late 1962. The Trinidad & Tobago, Grenada Pavilion attempted to emphasize the racial and religious background of the three islands and the culture that emerged from it. Mainly they did it through continuous shows of the country's folk dancing and music in a 250 seat theater. Eighty performers sang, folk danced, performed spectacular Limbo shows, and steel band music. There was also steel band music on the lagoon in front of the pavilion's attractive bar which served a variety of beverages from the three islands. The pavilion's ground floor exhibit area showed historical material, paintings, sculpture and literature. There was a colorful display of carnival costumes, and Grenada, renowned as the spice island of the West, had a display called "The Story of Nutmeg." This Photochromatic postcard is in good condition. Plastichrome of Canada. Benjamine News Co. Montreal 7, Canada. EX260.
