Description: Up for sale is an Exceedingly Scarce, Fine Authentic Ambrotype Original Photograph circa early 1860's of a Union Infantry Soldier with a Naval Background featuring the MERRIMACK Iron Clad Ship. Mounted inside Original Thermoplastic Case which features the logo of an Eagle and the words, "The Constitution and the Laws" on both sides. The soldier is seated wearing his hardee hat with infantry bugle and 10 button shell jacket with highly detailed gold and pink embellishment. This Ambrotype is in oustanding condition as shown in the photos. The glass, matte, and photo show no noticeable defects. The case has come apart and has signifigant wear to the one side including half of it lost and cracked at the bottom hinge as seen in the photos. The size is 3 3/4" x 3 1/4". This is a fine example of a scarce authentic Ambrotype photograph worthy of a museum and/or the most discerning of private collectors from the early years of the Civil War. Thanks for looking and please see our other auctions for more one of a kind historical pieces I am listing from my private collection of 35 years in the antiques business this month on ebay.
