Description: EXCELLENT RESTORED WWII KA-BAR USMC/USN "BLANK BLADE" FIGHTING KNIFE W/SHEATH. For a very short time after it quit making the so-called "red spacer" fighting knives for the Marines, the Union Cutlery Company (KA-BAR) continued to make fighting knives with a hot-blued finish on their metal parts. Some of these were specifically for the Marines and their blades were stamped "USMC". However, KA-BAR also began to make knives without any stamping on their right ricassos - the so-called "Blank Blade" knives. Some believe they were also made for the Marines, but I believe they were made to be issued to either Marines or sailors, as the needs arose. In any event only a few of these hot-blued "Blank Blade" knives were made, and the conditions in the Southwest Pacific were such that the finish did not hold up very well. This is one of those knives which I have restored by hot-bluing its blade. As shown by the photos it has been restored to excellent condition. It come with its original sheath, which is also in excellent condition, but, as shown in the photo it has had a small hanging strap added to the back.
