Eugene Berman American (1899-1972) Signed Lithograph ‘Imaginary Mountain City’

Description: Extraordinary Eugene Berman signed lithograph titled 'Imaginary Mountain City'. This medium-sized artwork was produced in the 1960s, and is number 28 out of a limited edition of 100. The subject blends fantasy with reality, in well known Berman style. Image area (in inches) is 12Hx16W on 19.5Hx27.25W textured cotton paper. As you can see the image area, and Berman’s signature and edition number, are all still quite nice, but the paper’s edges could use some restorative care as pictured. When I acquired this print, it was in a damaged frame. That frame was not original to the piece. Inside the backing was a small cut out piece of the original backing paper, and some of the original backing tape was still adhered to the back edges despite newer tape being used at the time. According to information found on the original backing paper, this work was originally a piece from the Vincent Price collection. The title card will be shipped to you, along with the unframed print. Eugene Berman (1899–1972) was a Russian-born American painter and set designer. He was associated with Surrealism and Neo-Romanticism. Berman's works often featured dreamlike, symbolic imagery and architectural elements. In addition to his paintings, he gained recognition for designing sets and costumes for ballets, operas, and theatrical productions. Berman's art is characterized by rich intricate details, and a sense of fantasy. His career spanned several decades, and he left a notable impact on the art and theatrical worlds. Eugene Berman's works can be found in various museums and art institutions around the world. Among the most notable: 1. The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) - New York, USA 2. The Metropolitan Museum of Art - New York, USA 3. The Art Institute of Chicago - Chicago, USA 4. The Tate Modern - London, UK 5. Berman not only advised Price on art acquisitions but also introduced him to various artists and helped him develop a discerning eye for collecting. The two shared a passion for art, and Berman's influence can be seen in the eclectic and impressive nature of Price's art collection, which included works from different periods and styles. Their friendship and s.hared interest in the arts lasted for many years. The print will be shipped with care in a tube to prevent bending and creasing. Message me if you have any questions. Thanks!
