He was an American jazz pianist, composer, arranger, lyricist, songwriter, vocalist and bandleader of the Roaring Twenties. His recordings spanned the period from 1925 to 1931 He also performed in exquisite dance venues including Hotel McAlpin, the largest hotel in America. The Hotel McAlpin was constructed in 1912 by General Edwin A. McAlpin, son of David Hunter McAlpin. As well as being the world’s largest hotel, it was also one of the most luxurious. The WMCA station's original studios and antenna were located at the Hotel McAlpin, located on Herald Square. It hosted the first music broadcast from a New York hotel in 1925. Band personnel included Robert W. Beers (trumpet), Elmwood Boyer (trumpet), Albert L.Cassidy (trombone), Benny Bonaccio (clarinet, alto sax), Edward Lamont (clarinet, alto sax), Gilbert Koerner (clarinet), Ernie Golden (piano), Louis Cassagne (tuba), Tony Colicchio (banjo, guitar), Lloyd Marsh (drums) This 5 CD series presents the majority of his recordings from 1925 to 1931.
