Description: "IN THE PARK" (Thought to be the Victoria Embankment, London) An original auto-lithograph by EMIL ORLIK (1872-1951). Signed in the stone. Published in "The Studio", Volume 20, No. 89, August 1901, with their blindstamp embossed at bottom right, just below the image line. Well printed on off-white wove paper, a good impression, clear crisp and clean. PROVENANCE: In addition to the inscribed tissue guard, see my last two photos which show the publication it came from. Size of the image area is 4.25 x 5.25 inches; the sheet measures 11.5 x 8 inches. *"The Studio" periodical was of course very much the house-journal of the Art Nouveau and related movements. In the 1890s especially, it took lithography to an incredible level, thanks to in-house lithographers such as William Griggs and Thomas Robert Way. Artists both from UK and abroad were queuing up to have their graphic works displayed in its pages, and the list of contributors included such stellar names as Beardsley, Whistler, Pennell, Valloton, Knopff and Waterhouse to cite but a handful. The editors were always careful to strike a balance between the established "names" and aspiring artists with emerging talent. ALL MY ITEMS ARE SENT VIA ROYAL MAIL TRACKED SERVICE, BOTH UK AND OVERSEAS, FOR EVERYBODY'S PEACE OF MIND. I WILL HAPPILY COMBINE SHIPPING IF THERE'S ANYTHING ELSE THAT APPEALS IN MY LISTINGS.
