One is about 180lbs and the other is roughly 300lbs. This seat holds up from use from both of us. It's sturdy and doesn't creak or wiggle. We did use some rubber bumpers to help bolster its sturdiness, but it's pretty sturdy to begin with. The slow close works great, and is fantastic for preventing dropping the toilet seat lid by accident and jump scaring the entire house in the middle of the night. I saw others say it closes "too slow" but...why do you need a toilet seat lid to close fast? It's a nice bright white color and a good quality. Installation was fairly easy, but you might need to look up a How-To video if you've never done it before.5.0 out of 5 stars Big improvement over the old plastic seat24 Aug 23Replaced the cheap plastic seat that came with my low-flow toilet, and I just wish I'd done it sooner. This one seems very durable and it looks great. The chrome plated hinges lend a nice look to it, and I'm assuming the metal hinges will last longer than the typical plastic ones. The seat is much more comfortable than the previous one, and the metal screws that hold it in place are far more substantial than the plastic ones that held the old one on. Very good quality. Should last many years. These lids are as good as the originals that came with the toilet (the originals held up for over 14 years, since my house was built in 2008). Bemis manufactures these seats...they manufacture a large percentage of the toilets used in households across the US, and their toilet seats don't disappoint. This seat fit just fine on a Gerber elongated bowl porcelain toilet.I had purchased another slow-close elongated bowl lid, and it was terrible...would not stay in place on the bowl, even for younger kids sitting on it to pinch a deuce. The Mayfair lid wrenches into place - don't over-torque it though or you'll snap the bottom nut off. If you do this, not a big deal, you can use a 1/2 inch wrench on the main nut anyway (in case the bottom piece breaks off). I'd recommend using a 1/2 inch wrench and not a ratchet. Easier to over-torque with a ratchet. Overall this seat takes less than 5 minutes to install. Couldn't be much easier.Was so impressed with this seat that I immediately purchased 2 more to replace the other aging toilet seats in my house. 5 stars, well-made, reasonably priced.4.0 out of 5 stars Time will tell if this one lasts27 Jul 23Mayfair is a Bemis brand. Last seat I bought had a paint flaw and they were very responsive and replaced at no charge. However, after less than a year, the paint started to wear on the seat and the nickel finish started to peel from the hinges. I bought this on Prime day as the price was right. Hope it lasts longer than last one. The quiet close really does work well. Be careful, you get so used to it that when at other places, you just let the lid drop thinking it will "slow close". yeah, not always the case.4.0 out of 5 stars If Toilet Seats Can Be Beautiful...21 May 23...this one would definitely qualify. The hinges are both stylish and sturdy. Quiet and slow, too. I would never presume to argue with "improved personal performance" from this seat, but I would disagree with the characterization of it being cozy or soft. It's wood, very sturdy, more comfy than the plastic seat it's replacing, but soft it is not. I bought it because I got tired of feeling like I was going to end up with my foot in the bowl every time I wanted to put on lotion after a shower!Hubs installed, I did not, so I can't speak about that process personally, but I can tell you it took under 15 minutes to complete two of them, and not once did I hear a curse, sigh, grunt, or anything being slammed around, so I have to assume it was very easy!My/our only complaint is the color. It isn't white, it's off-white. The top and bottom parts of the seat don't look quite the same, either. Round is more white than Elongated, which was ordered by mistake and returned and how I know, but neither match our Kohler white toilets. We hate our toilets actually, maybe we'll get some that match the seats instead of the other way around! If not for that, these thrones would get a perfect score. :)Edited to add an unforeseen though (usually!) funny consequence to owning these toilet seats. If you have them in all bathrooms in your home and you get accustomed to them, you will tend to forget not everyone else has them in their homes too.
