A contrasting blue sweater and of lamb soft yarn, ice skates and socks complete her adorable winter sports outfit. She has been well cared for and is clean and ready to display with Effanbee and Madame Alexander Doll Skaters… or with other dolls in your collection! This adorable Suzanne doll measures a delightful “almost” 14 inches tall without her skates. She is similar to Effanbee Dewees Cochran Little Lady dolls with her uniquely designed slightly bent right arm. She has beautiful composition “skin” that is smooth and beautifully colored. Her hand painted features are lovely without significant flaws. This beauty has stunning blue sleep eyes. She has her hallmark in relief on both the back of her head and on her back. Produced during World War II, this lovely skater originally came in another outfit and wore a different wig. Her exquisite non-original hand fashioned replacement outfit is a very special outfit designed by an extremely clever master knitter. The choice of fine soft silky yarn and angora to showcase beautifully intricate stitches creates a breathtakingly gorgeous outfit. Her long blonde curly human hair replacement wig suits her well and looks lovely with the delicately knitted ice skating costume. And… if she isn’t on your shopping wish list yet, keep in mind this doll’s socket head and limb joint attachments at the shoulders and hips allow for fun posing opportunities. She’s an absolute wonder in composition and cuteness from the good old days! CONDITION: This doll is preowned by at least one serious collector (my mom) and may have been a play doll prior to being adopted into our collection, but has obviously been very well cared for over her last 80 plus years. In my opinion, this Suzanne doll is in absolutely wonderful condition, a superb example of Effanbee’s 1940 darling, Suzanne, and even though she is not brand new out of the box perfect, expect a truly special doll you won’t ever want to part with! Issues that may be of concern to you, mentioned here and shown in photos: ❄️ Her fingertips have a few issues, including a missing end to her left pointer. Please zoom in and take a close up look. ❄️ She has typical surface issues to her composition “skin”; including rubs at joints, light crazing, light discoloration which my camera has done a nice job of magnifying; plus red marks on her feet, possibly a hint to her previous footwear. Unless you are in the habit of examining your dolls with a magnifying glass, these age issues would be hard to detect with the typical naked eye, but know they are there because she is old. ❄️ She has a replacement human hair size 7 wig - a late 1900s update, so although her body is original, her hair is not. The wig was is not glued on, so will be easy to replace if you wish. Hint…hint… I may still have a similar tagged “new”human hair wig or two in her size in other colors, available in another listing. Note there is glue residue on her bald head that I did not want to attempt to remove. It may help pinpoint her exact production date. ❄️ She stands well on her own, but should have a stand when displayed. She has what appears to be original thick stretchy rubber stringing. I chose not to replace it because she stands and poses well. This is something you might like to do at some point. ❄️ As mentioned, her clothing is not original. The replacement outfit is exquisite and I feel suits her well. ❄️ Socks and skates are nice vintage late 20th century replacements as you can see. ❄️ Some Suzanne dolls had magnets in their hands so they could hold things. This doll does not have that feature. I know that seems like a lot of issues, but I don’t want you to have any disappointing surprises with this online shopping experience. Believe me, I know how devastating that can be! Overall, in my opinion I think she is in fantastic condition and I would most likely consider her museum quality as a restored play doll that wasn’t played with but survived time well. She is not only lovely, but she represents the importance of girls playing and enjoying sports worldwide, and would definitely be one of my favorite dolls in a museum! This wonderful doll is sold as described through text and photos provided in this listing. Props; are not included. No doll stand is included.
