Description: EDWARDIAN CUTWORK WHITEWORK LINEN DRESS, 1912Edwardian white linen walking dress with skillfully hand stitched cutwork with embroidered twigs and leaves in raised satin stitches, scrolls and eyelet openwork with intricate hand done lace fillings on front bodice, skirt, and sleeves. Dress has a slight train in back. Dating to the Edwardian 1908's period. One piece in construction. Blouse has a net lace neck line with pin tucks, outer ¾ sleeves adorned with fine scalloped edging with inner long net sleeves with pin tucks. Back hook and eye crochet button closures. Bodice and skirt have no lining. Still retaining it museum catalog identification number on a sewn in label at top closure as well as string tag. Deaccessioned from the Rochester Strong Museum collection. CONDITION In very good antique condition with very few imperfections consistent with it's age. Bodice has small seam/dart separated in front at waist. Very small rip at waist back by buttons. 4 crochet buttons are missing in back closure. There are no underarm discoloration, no repairs, and sturdy and strong and wearable. APPROXIMATE MEASUREMENTS Bust 38"Waist 32"Sleeve length - outer sleeve 20". Inner sleeve 26” Across back of shoulders 14" Front length from shoulder to waist 16" Shoulder to hemline front 61-1/2” Shoulder to hemline back 64”.
