Undated, sometime between 1880's-1903. Volumes are uniformly half-bound in leather with marbled boards and gilt tooling by Root and Son. Top edge gilt. Marbled endpapers. Vol.1 has a frontispiece engraving of the author with a tissue guard and is 217 pages. Vol. 2 is 316, Vol. 3 is 311, Vol. 4 is 354, Vol. 5 is 325. Each volume measures about 4.5 x 6.75 inches and has a maroon ribbon bookmark. Boards have shelf wear. Bindings are intact and strong. Gilt is bright on spines and text block edge. Previous owner's bookplate inside front cover of each book. Volume I has pencil notations on blank sides of both free end papers. Other volumes have no writing. Pages are age toned.
