Description: Edge of the Anvil: A Resource Book for the Blacksmith - SIGNED by Jack Andrews at Bill Gichner hammer-in 1999.ISBN 1-85339-097-6 Jack Andrews founded Skipjack Press, and was one of the first independent publishers I began dealing with when I embarked on my book selling career 23 years ago. (The first independent publisher I dealt with was Lindsay Publications. Those were good times! ) Andrews taught blacksmithing in metal working classes, and wrote AND illustrated Edge of the Anvil. For years, it was a primary resource for novice blacksmiths. In 1994, he updated it with New Edge of the Anvil: A Resource Book for the Blacksmith. Copies of New Edge of the Anvil now sometimes sell for nearly $100 -- when you can find them. Notably, Andrews included photos and discussion of some of the ironwork by legendary master blacksmith Samuel Yellin. In fact, Andrews researched, wrote, and published the most significant book on Yellin's life and work, Samuel Yellin, Metalworker (Skipjack Press, Berlin, MD, 2000). I sold a couple dozen copies of Edge of the Anvil which Andrews had left in stock after New Edge of the Anvil came out. This is the copy I put aside in my own personal library, after Jack Andrews inscribed it to me at Bill Gichner's hammer-in in 1999.
