Color IPS, 5½" X 8", n.p., n.d. [but vintage, c. 1960]. Very good. Faint tape stain at each corner, else bright and quite attractive. This heavy stock glazed color half-length portrait shows Mathews in his heyday, in a batting stance wearing his Milwaukee Braves uniform. It was apparently a product endorsement (perhaps from a cereal box?) and is printed on thin shirt cardboard (visible only on verso, of course). There's a thin printed black rule about the edges and a printed "brass plaque" stating "Ed Mathews / Milwaukee Braves" printed near the bottom edge. Below Mathew's elbow is a printed signature. Across his chest, Mathews writes boldly in blue fountain pen: "Best Wishes / To Don Burnell / Ed Mathews." Unusual format -- quite handsome.
