Description: Here is a super rare brass tag off a Railroad car crane! This is off a industrial brownhoist corporation DE-50. This is solid brass. This would look amazing displayed in the collection! What a sweet piece of early railroad history! I am guessing that this was an old crane from the 1930s 1940s era. The size of this is 16.5 by 12 inches. INDUSTRIAL BROWNHOIST Industrial Works was founded in 1873 at Bay City, MI. They built their first railroad wrecking crane for the Chicago & Western Illinois RR in 1883. From there the company went on to become one of the largest producers of rail cranes in the United States. Industrial Works merged with the Brown Hoisting Machinery Co. (Brownhoist) on September 26, 1927 to become Industrial Brownhoist Corp. with headquarters at Cleveland, OH. The formal transfer of assets to the new corporation took place on October 26, 1927. In 1929 the McMyler-Interstate Co. was merged into Industrial Brownhoist. Two years later in 1931 the Cleveland plant was closed and all crane manufacturing was consolidated at Bay City. Evidence indicates that the Bay City and Cleveland plants continued to use their own numbering system until the 1931 consolidation. After this the Brownhoist numbering system was used. American Hoist & Derrick bought out Industrial Brownhoist in 1960 and continued to build rail cranes at Bay City until 1983. Please check out my Ridtiquities store for more and future items. I don’t have any control over that. I do raise the shipping some to pay for the time it takes packaging and also to offset the eBay fees and also materials in shipping items so they get to you in super nice shape.
