Description: For the most discerning of sports memorabilia collectors is a Babe Ruth single signed baseball. A great collection begins with a Ruth ball and this one certainly fits the bill! A gorgeous iconic big, bold, black fountain pen autograph adorns the coveted sweet spot of this particular specimen. Ruth's signature flows across the ball taking up most of the sweet spot. The ball hails from the early 1930's such is evident by the blue and red stitching that was phased out after the 1933 season. There is very light even brown toning to the ball. This is a Pioneer ball used during the barnstorming season. I have included several pictures of another Pioneer ball that is not in this sale that was signed by Lou Gehrig. This ball also has the same blue and red stitching. This ball was auctioned off by Heritage Auctions. The signer of the PSA/DNA certificate is Kevin Keating. At the time of the signing he was the head principle authenticator. He also wrote a book called Waiting for a Sign that is pictured. The Kevin Keating book and the display box will be included with the sale.
