This beautiful Bryce Brothers compote/pedestal/footed bowl is a stunning piece of Victorian-era glassware. The intricate diamond optic pattern and blue color make it a true standout. Measuring 3.5 inches in height and 8 inches in width, this round bowl is perfect for serving or just looking pretty. Crafted in the United States in the 1880s, this original piece is made of pressed glass and weighs 2 pounds. It is perfect for collectors of antique glassware or anyone looking to add a touch of elegance to their dining experience. Pattern #1000 also known as Diamond Quilted. I have also seen it referred to as Diamond Optic. There are a number of chips at the bottom outside of the bowl where the bottom meets the sides and one on the pedestal. You can feel them much more than see them but they are there. That may sound like a lot (not sure what Great Aunt Ada was doing, or drinking, in the kitchen when she was making trifle) but this sweet bowl dates to the 1880s so perhaps we can forgive the chips. Actually I know I can. This bowl has been sitting on a shelf at the back for quite a while. Now that I have it out I'm not sure I want to part with it.
