The hobnail design begins in a translucent clear frosted layer on the bottom, continues in a transparent cranberry layer in the middle, and ends with a crimped white crest on the top. It was manufactured in the 1880s by the Hobbs, Brockunier Company, one of the foremost American glass companies of the time, located in Wheeling, West Virginia.The bowl measures about 9" in diameter, 4" in height, and weighs 2 pounds, 8 ounces. It is in good condition with no visible cracks or scratches. Several of the hobnails on the bottom have slight nicks, due to being in contact with a shelf or other hard surface.
