I do this because I have been taught not to clean such things as you can damage or destoy the value. Also, when I start an auction, I clean and box and basically put it in shipping ready. If I put something away wet or what have you it can mold or hurt the value of the item. This goes double for coins. Do not ever clean coins. Im not a profesional cleaner and want to leave it up to the buyer. I do get the dust off or clean electronic contacts or what have you. But using cleaners and then boxing them up is not a good thing. When this type of packaging came out..usuall 80s,90s..they did not take into account of the item sitting over time having the batteries in the battery compartment. Over time these batteries can carrode the battery compartment. This is usually just a matter of cleaning up the connections inside battery compartment. But I wanted to let you know so there is no confusion as to what you may face. I cant tear open a new package then it would not be original. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Planet resources was spent on that object and would be a waste if it could be fixed or repurposed but just tossed aside in the trash.
