Description: LADIES AND GENTLEMENBOYS AND GIRLS, FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS, AND FANS OF GREAT EARLY ROCK MUSIC FROM THE LATE 1950's TO THE MID 1970's, PRESENTED BY THE GREATEST DJ's OF ALL TIME... AND IN THIS CASE, 'AMERICA'S TEENAGER' FOREVER, DICK CLARKWITH EVERY HOUR LONG SHOW FEATURING ONE ARTIST OR BAND, OR ONE OF MANY, MANY DIFFERENT CREATIVE THEMES MOST WITH RARE INTERVIEWS, MANY WITH ARTISTS NO LONGER WITH US, WITH THEIR GREATEST HITS, AND STORIES BEHIND THE MUSICYOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE FOR ALMOST EVERY HOUR EVER BROADCAST OF DICK CLARK'S FIRST LP RADIO SERIES 'THE DICK CLARK MUSIC MACHINE'.AND, HOW DO YOU DEFINE RARENESS??THERE WERE NO MORE THAN 175 LPS OR CDS PRESSED FOR EACH WEEKLY SHOW. THIS REPRESENTED THE TOP 175 RADIO MARKETS IN THE COUNTRY AND ONLY ONE STATION IN EACH MARKET COULD AIR THE SHOW. STATIONS IN MARKETS BELOW THE TOP 175 (THERE ARE 306 MARKETS IN THE UNITED STATES) HAD TO TAKE THE SATELLITE FEED OF THE SHOW FROM WESTWOOD ONE, THE SYNDICATOR OF THE SERIES)AND, DUE TO CONTRACTUAL LEGAL OBLIGATIONS, EACH RADIO STATION WAS ALLOWED TO AIR EACH SHOW EXACTLY ONCE AND NO MORE. SO, MOST RADIO STATIONS JUST DESTROYED THEM AFTER AIRING SINCE THEY WERE USELESS TO THE STATION AFTER AIRING. THERE IS NO TELLING HOW MANY OF EACH SHOW SURVIVED. WHO KNOWS - THIS COULD BE THE ONLY ONE.WELCOME EVERYONE TO KEITH'S KOLLECTABLES, ONE OF EBAY'S PREMIERE BUYERS AND SELLERS OF PRISTINE RARE RADIO SHOWS OF ALL GENRES ALONG WITH OTHER GREAT VINTAGE AMERICANA. JUST CLICK ON THE TAB ON KEITH'S HOME PAGE TO SEE ALL THE VARIED OFFERINGS TO WHICH MORE ARE ADDED ALMOST DAILY.KEITH'S KOLLECTABLES PRESENTS ONE OF THE RAREST RADIO SERIES THAT EVER AIRED FEATURING THE EARLY ROCK N' ROLL ERA FROM THE 50's TO THE 70's . 'DICK CLARK'S MUSIC MACHINE' AND 'DICK CLARK'S SOLID GOLD' WERE BOTH PRODUCTIONS FROM DICK'S DIAMOND P ENTERPRISES AND TOGETHER COMPRISED DICK CLARK'S FIRST FOOTHOLD INTO RADIO SYNDICATION WHICH CONTINUED MANY YEARS LATER WITH THE FOUR HOUR WEEKLY OLDIES SHOW 'DICK CLARK'S ROCK, ROLL & REMEMBER' WHICH RAN ON RADIO 20 YEARS. SIMULTANEOUSLY DICK ENTERED THE WEEKLY COUNTDOWN GENRE STARTING IN 1981 WITH 'DICK CLARK'S NATIONAL MUSIC SURVEY', IN 1985 WITH 'DICK CLARK'S COUNTDOWN AMERICA' AND THEN IN 1994 'DICK CLARK'S US MUSIC SURVEY.' THERE WERE MINOR DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE MUSIC MACHINE SHOW AND THE SOLID GOLD SHOW.FIRST, BOTH WERE SENT TO AFFILIATE RADIO STATIONS WHO PURCHASED THE RIGHT TO BROADCAST THE SHOWS. THERE WERE NO NATIONAL COMMERCIALS IN THESE SHOWS AND AT THE END OF EACH SEGMENT, THERE WAS A BAND SEPARATING ONE SEGMENT FROM THE NEXT DURING WHICH THE STATION AIRED ITS OWN SOLD LOCAL ADVERTISING THIS WAS DIFFERENT FROM THE USUAL SYNDICATION PROCESS CALLED THE 'BARTER SYSTEM' WHERE RADIO STATIONS CONTRACTED TO AIR A SHOW AND NATIONAL COMMERCIALS WERE EMBEDDED INTO THE SHOW BEFORE THE BAND SEPARATING ONE PROGRAM SEGMENT FROM THE OTHER.SECOND, DICK'S MUSIC MACHINE SHOW WAS SOLD TO RADIO STATIONS IN THREE HOUR BLOCKS, 52 SEPARATE MAILINGS FOR AN ENTIRE YEAR, WITH EACH HOUR CONTAINING A SEPARATE THEME. SINCE THE STATIONS HAD BOUGHT THE SERIES, THEY COULD EITHER AIR THE SHOW IN A THREE HOUR BLOCK ON THE WEEKEND OR AN HOUR AT A TIME ON WEEKDAYS.DICK'S SOLID GOLD SHOW WAS SOLD TO STATIONS IN ONE 365 HOUR LP LOT. EACH HOUR HAD A DIFFERENT THEME FOR THE ENTIRE HOUR. IT WAS DESIGNED FOR STATIONS TO AIR ONE HOUR A DAY EACH DAY OF THE YEAR. BUT, STATIONS COULD ALSO SCHEDULE THESE HOURS ANY WAY THEY WANTED.I SUSPECT THAT THERE WAS A LOT OF DUPLICATION IN THEMES IN EACH SERIES SINCE THEY HAD THE SAME FOCUS. WHAT A STATION BOUGHT DEPENDED ON HOW MUCH THEY HAD TO SPEND AND HOW THEY WANTED TO USE THE SERIES.PREVIOUSLY, I HAVE LISTED DICK'S MUSIC MACHINE AS A THREE HOUR SPECIAL BUT I HAVE RECEIVED MANY REQUESTS TO LIST THE HOURS SEPARATELY BECAUSE SINCE EACH THEME IS DIFFERENT, THEY REALLY WANT ONE HOUR BUT DON'T WANT TO SPEND MORE THAN THEY NEED BY BUYING TWO LPS THEY DON'T WANT. SO I WILL LIST SEVERAL AS ONE HOUR OFFERINGS INSTEAD OF THE THREE. THAT WAY YOU CAN GET THE THEME YOU WANT AND IF YOU DO WANT ALL THREE, THEY WILL BE FOR THE SAME PRICE AS I CHARGE FOR A COMPLETE SET OF THREE IN MY STORE. SO WHAT ARE THE BIG QUESTIONS IF YOU ARE NOT SURE ABOUT RADIO SHOWS? LET ME TELL YOU BUT FIRST....Allow me tell you my own personal story of discovering the wonder of radio shows. I discovered radio shows quite by accident while reading one of my favorite (long since departed) magazines called "Discoveries" (It was later bought by the same company that publishes "Goldmine" which I personally always considered a lesser publication, but that is another story. This was before ebay became the driving force in radio show sales (and everything else) in the later 1990's. I was especially attracted in "Discoveries" to a two page (or more) spread in each issue by a guy called "The Old Hippie". Let me tell you, the Old Hippie had it all. He was a real pioneer. Way before anyone knew what radio shows even were let alone tha REt they could be bought as rarities, he had the market cornered. Most shows that he advertised were way beyond my budget but I drooled over those pages every issue and once in awhile I could afford one or two. Now, I have attempted in my own humble way to take on the mantle of "The Old Hippie". I have listed over 11,000 unique radio shows of all genres for you all to drool over, and most at prices, hopefully, that collectors can better afford! I want to make available to collectors what I could not afford and especially in these days of higher prices and lesser availability.Radio shows are harder and harder to find in quantity and the prices for the ones still out there just go higher and higher as they disappear from the market. However, because of my large presence on eBay, I am often contacted with selling offers, some of which I take advantage of and some I have to pass on because of the prices. I have found that by buying in bulk, even when many or most of the shows are lesser known but still amazing shows, I can offer the best prices on all titles. NOW, EXACTLY WHAT IS A RADIO SHOW? WHY COLLECT THEM? WHERE DO THEY COME FROM? Well, those are good questions, especially if you have never known of them. Radio Shows are syndicated productions by one of several large and small distributors who supply broadcast product to radio stations normally during weekends when the usual air personalities have a break. Many air on Saturday or Sunday mornings, afternoons or evenings or less often during overnight segments and weekdays. They often feature some of the best known voices for their genre from across the country thus the Dick Clark's and Casey Kasem's and Rick Dees and Dick Bartley and so many others. People collect them for various reasons. Some just collect the series because they like it and want them all. Some collect their favorite artists or genre of music. Rather than an album download, they have a unique presentation of their favorite artist or music not available anywhere else and always with dj comments which were very entertaining. Some collect interviews with their favorite artists as most shows had interview segments. Some collect commercials AND, these shows are in limited quantity. They were pressed just for affiliate stations in the United States. Many have just a few still in circulation. Some of the more popular shows had as many as 175 shows pressed of each week's show, but think about it, only 175 pressed for some 350 million Americans and millions of overseas collectors who look for unique presentations of their favorite artists or form of music is about as rare as rare can be. The 175 number represented the top 175 United States Metropolitan radio markets. Smaller markets could air the show but had to take the satellite feed once it became available to them. How many survived as did the ones I have is anyone's guess. This is because most stations just threw these away after network broadcast since they could not be aired again because of the dated commercial content and contractual obligations to which the station legally agreed to for the right to air the program. So it is likely that very few still exist and they are increasingly hard to find They were first distributed on reel to reel tape or on lp, later on CD and even later (after 2000 for most shows) on CDR. Now they are not available at all to collectors since they are distributed only through digital downloadThese shows become rarer and rarer every day because the people who buy them hold on to them. If they do later sell, it is to make a huge profit since prices go up all the time. The shows that you get now and hold on to will never decrease in value and only increase. I have prided myself since the start to provide the best and fairest cost with a guarantee that you will be happy or I refund your money. I sell them for near what I bought them for. I give volume discounts and discount postage always. As the postal service increases their rates, my shipping rates over the years have decreased. And, I have one of the biggest radio show libraries in the world consisting of over fifteen thousand unique shows, so many that I don't even know all that I have and am sometimes amazed when I go to look for one show and find another that I did not realize I had. Finally, it is Americana at its best. Whether the show be from the 60's or 2000's, rock, countdown, oldies, country, classical, religious, jazz or big band, it is unique and home grown. And you just can't find them anywhere. Even record stores that still exist will rarely have any. Radio shows are wonderful representations of the real golden age of music radio. And every one you buy is an original, not a copy, not a remake - all are limited editions in the hundreds at most and most, like this special show, much less. Once you get hooked, like me, it is a love affair for life! Welcome to the Club! Also, keep in mind that this and all radio shows are not just about the music - the music for the most part can be found anywhere. It is the mixture of great music and great announcing that makes it so entertaining. As well, it is a piece of radio history. You just aren't going to find these shows anymore. Think of what they will be worth in a few years! (IF you wanted to sell.) I am selling to share with other music lovers what I was able to get at a reasonable price. As always, I charge only shipping on the first show you buy for U.S. buyers so the more you buy the more you save in shipping charges. And for my international friends, shipping is exclusively handled by the eBay International Shipping Program. Good Luck and God Bless You.
