Description: These drills will go through materials such as glass, stone, ceramics, etc. One is considered a 3 mm. size, although the finished hole will be a little larger than that. The diamond-coated tip actually measures about 3.25 to 3.40 mm. in diameter. The shank measures about 2.6 mm. in diameter, and fits nicely in the 1/8" or 3 mm. collet of your motor tool. Any diamond drill bit requires a motor and will not be effective simply rotating by hand. The 6 mm. size core drill has a cut-out shank to allow debris to fall out of the bit while drilling. Its shank is 5.2 mm. (3/16") in diameter, and the diamond-coated, fluted tip is about 5.9 mm. in diameter. Use a slow-to-medium speed on your motor and keep the diamond drill and the piece wet with water for best results. A technique I came up with years ago is to roll modeling clay or wax into a string and apply it to the surface of the piece where you are drilling in the form of a circle around the area. Fill the circle with water, and you have the constant supply of coolant that you need. Also very important is NOT using pressure on the bit. The overall length of these bits is 2". If used properly, these bits should drill through multiple pieces before wearing out. It just depends on the user AND the type of material being drilled.
