Description: This auction is for the 1999 Dickens Series "The Old Royal Observatory." This is the hard to find Gold Edition. It is part of the Historical Landmark Series. It is hand numbered 2,094 of 5,500. It has been displayed and is in very good condition. It was well cared for. The building measures approx. 9 inches high x 7 1/2 inches long x 7 inches wide. The sign measures 3 inches high. The light cord is included. There is also a information booklet included. The uniquely shaped building is modeled after the famous Old Royal Observatory, designed by Sir Christopher Wren in 1675. Marked in the courtyard pavement of Wren's Royal Observatory is the Greenwich Meridian, the standard zero meridian which separates the globe into east and west hemispheres. This classic London landmark is also known worldwide because it represents zero hour, the starting point from which standard time is set and kept. It was purchased from a Dept. 56 collector and it has been stored in a smoke free home. The box is clean but does have some wear from age and storage.
