Description: [zipedit] DenmarkEvent Publicity Poster Stamp This small poster stamp was issued as publicity for an animal show held in København (Copenhagen) from July 6 - 9, 1905. According to a booklet written by Hartvig Dehn: In 1905 the Co-operative of Sjælland Farmers' Associations celebrated its 25th anniversary, and on that occasion a common (farm) animal show was held at Fælleden in Copenhagen. There had been a great deal of apprehension about going into this event. The concerns probably stemmed significantly from the fact that the joint animal show in Slagelse in 1902 had resulted in a deficit of DKK 10,000. However, when the animal show committee was established, they got a very active member. It was Martin Dessau, then director of Bürmeister and Wain. From his previous company as director of the Slagelse cooperative pig slaughterhouse, he felt strongly attached to the Zealand farmers. Together with his two brothers Hartvig and Benny Dessau — head of a large wholesale company and director of De Forenede Bryggerier, respectively, the three brothers started a PR campaign for the animal show and in addition to the municipalities of Copenhagen and Frederiksberg, they got all the significant companies in Copenhagen to subscribe to a capital guarantee that ensured the animal show was held in Copenhagen. Fortunately, the subscribed guarantee capital was not needed. The animal show at Fælleden on 6, 7, 8 and 9 July 1905 was a great success and gave a nice profit. This stamp is F/VF, no gum. this is probably from the second printing. (The color of the first printing is darker than the second printing.) There will be large and small lots, some containing similar material, some containing a random mixture, and some containing only one or a few items. The condition will be mixed, but none of the lots will be just accumulations of damaged or faulty stamps (unless specifically listed as such). Items in stockpage or larger lots may be removed and repackaged into glassines to save on shipping costs. A Note about Poster Stamps and Gum: Because many poster stamp collectors are primarily interested in the image on the stamp, the absence or presence of gum on the back is of little concern. If no mention of gum is made, then there may or may not be gum present. If you are only interested in poster stamps with original gum, please inquire before bidding.
