Description: Tradescantia spathacea, the Oyster plant, BoatLily or Moses in the Cradle, is a medicinal herb in the Commelinaceae family first described in 1788. It is native to Belize, Guatemala, and Southern Mexico but widely cultivated as an ornamental and naturalized in parts of Florida, Texas, Hawaii, and various Oceanic islands. You will receive two, 6" long, healthy, unrooted cuttings very similar to that of the mother plants in the photographs above ^ These cuttings are massive! I usually trim the lower half of the leaves on the cuttings, before they ship out. This lower half, you'll be inserting into soil. Some companies sell nutrients that you spray unto your plants, don't use these. Plants use there leaves to breath. Spray-on nutrients leave a residue and reduce the capacity for plants to breath properly. You're more likely to sufficate your plant with spray-on nutrients rather than to enrich their diet. I recommend misting your plants once a week with just water, to clean their leaves & to add moisture to them. *The addition of a Winter Assurance Kit, to your order provides your new Plant w/a light Heat Pack & Thermal Insulation for it's shipping container. I recommend this if the temperatures in your area are around 45° degrees or less.
