Description: I have for sale a vintage Crompton & Knowles thickness measuring gauge. It is made by B. C. AMES CO. of Waltham, Massachusetts. It works like this:The ski shaped middle leg sits on an object. According to the thickness, it will push up the vertical rodand the dial will point to the correct number. It may have been used to measure thickness of stacks of paper or fabric. I do not have any knowledge on this machine, so I'm not sure if it's calibrated. The entire tool is constructed of solid steel. The bottom rectangular foot dimensions are: 6" by 3"It stands about 2 3/4" tall. This is a very unusual and rare tool. Thanks for looking!
